Liudmyla Arkhypova

Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas, Ukraine

Biography

    She received her basic education at the Faculty of Geography of Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University. Since 1995, she has been working at the Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas (IFNTUOG). From 1999 to 2010, she also was the Head of the Department of Ecology at the Ivano-Frankivsk Institute of Management and Economics “Galician Academy”, and from 2003 to 2009, she served as the Dean of the Faculty of Information and Natural Sciences as well.

    In 2000, she defended her PhD dissertation on “Hydro-ecological potential of the Ukrainian Carpathians”. Since 2001, she has held a PhD in Technical Sciences with a Specialty 21.06.01 – Technogenic State Security. In 2004, she received the title of Associate Professor at the Department of Ecology.

    In 2010, she entered doctoral studies at the IFNTUOG. In 2013, she defended her doctoral dissertation on Specialty 21.06.01 – Environmental Safety on the “Scientific and methodological foundations of natural and man-made safety of surface hydroecosystems of the Carpathian region”. From 2013 to 2023, she served as the Head of the Department of Tourism at IFNTUOG. In 2015, she received the title of Professor.

    Member of the Specialized Scientific Council K 45.052.05, 2015-2017; D 20.052.05, 2016-2021; Academic Secretary of this council since July 2019; Academic Secretary of the Doctoral Council since 2022.

    She has over 25 years of professional experience. She was an expert in environmental impact assessments for ski resorts and recreation complexes such as Bukovel, Bystrytsia, Chornohora, and Svydovets; environmental impact assessments of oil and gas fields in the Carpathian region; executor of “Scientific environmental expert assessments of small hydros construction projects in the Carpathian region”, etc.


    Nearly 450 works have been published, of which 80 are of an educational and methodical nature, including 4 textbooks and 9 manuals. She is the author of 6 patents of Ukraine for utility models and 1 patent for invention, the author and co-author of 15 monographs, 50 articles in professional journals, more than 30 publications in international ones, and 35 articles in scientometric publications, including 22 in Scopus and Web of Science.

    Research interests: development of methodology for ensuring sustainable development of the Carpathian region; strategic environmental assessment of tourism development programmes; detailed plans of territories for the prospective location of hotel and tourist complexes; assessment of environmental impacts of recreational, tourist, and resort complexes; development of measures (technical, practical, economic, environmental, etc.) to solve environmental problems; environmental safety of water resources in the region, their quantitative and qualitative assessment.


    Participated in numerous international projects, particularly in the last 5 years:

    • Project Manager of HUSKROUA/1901/3/1/0005 “Valorisation of cultural and historical heritage through the development and promotion of the Carpathian cultural route”, 2021-2023;
    • Head of the Farm Contractual Topic 175/21 “Assessment of the recreational load on the territory of the hotel and tourist complex Bukovel”, 2021-2024;
    • Project Expert 2SOFT/2.1/91 “Development of cross-border cooperation for the promotion of historical and cultural heritage sites in the cross-border territory of Romania and Ukraine”, 2020-2023;
    • Project Expert HUSKROUA/1702/6.1/0022 “Regional Centre for Training and Monitoring of the Impact of Electrical Installations on the Environment”, 2020-2023;
    • Responsible Executor of the scientific topic D-5-15-F “Methodology of environmentally safe use of renewable energy sources in the sustainable tourism and recreational development of the Carpathian region” (funding from the Ministry of Education and Science), 2015-2017;
    • Expert of the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance since 2019;
    • Expert of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine since 2020;
    • Member of the Public Council at the Department of Tourism of Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration, 2015-2022;
    • Member of the Scientific Council of the Carpathian National Nature Park since 2016 and the Dniester Regional Landscape Park since 2023;
    • Member of the jury of the all-Ukrainian competition of student research papers in the “Rational nature management and environmental safety” field, 2021-2022.

    The following state awards have been received:

    • Certificate of Honour from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, 2002;
    • Honorary Distinction: Order “For the Development of Education, for Conscientious Work, High Professionalism, and Significant Contribution to the Formation of Modern Education”, 2007;
    • Diploma, badge and award of the Head of the Regional State Administration and the Head of the Regional Council in the nomination “Famous Scientist of the Year”, 2014;
    • Diploma of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, 2017.
