Peer Review Process

The standard review period is 2-4 weeks, with the average time to the first editorial decision being 4-8 weeks

In the journal “Ecological Safety and Balanced Use of Resources”, manuscript reviewing is carried out to ensure the scientific quality of submissions, to assess their novelty and significance, and to confirm compliance with ethical standards. A double-blind review procedure is applied, which guarantees that:

  • authors have no access to the reviewers’ personal data;
  • reviewers have no access to the authors’ personal data.

The initial evaluation is performed by the Editor-in-Chief or an appointed Deputy Editor. In cases of conflict of interest, the assessment is entrusted to another member of the Editorial Board. Once registered, manuscripts are anonymised and then forwarded to:

  • the Editorial Board member responsible for the relevant scientific field (to manage the review process; in exceptional cases and in the absence of a conflict of interest, a member of the editorial board may also act as a reviewer);
  • two independent external reviewers, who must hold a doctoral degree and have no professional or personal connection with the authors.

During the evaluation, reviewers consider:

  • the relevance of the content to the article’s declared topic;
  • the novelty and originality of the research;
  • the scientific and practical significance of the results;
  • the value of the study for the readership.

Based on the outcome, reviewers provide a recommendation:

  • accept without changes;
  • accept with minor revisions;
  • accept with major revisions;
  • reject with justified reasons.

Reviews must be completed within two weeks. All signed reports are kept in the editorial office for three years from the date of issue in which the article is published. Authors are informed of the editorial decision and, if revisions are required, receive the review texts without disclosure of reviewer identities. Resubmission after revision does not guarantee acceptance. The final decision rests with the Editor-in-Chief, or, in cases of conflict of interest, with the Deputy Editor.
