Publication Ethics

The Editorial Board of Ecological Safety and Balanced Use of Resources adheres to international standards of research integrity, the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and Elsevier’s Publishing Ethics Resource Kit. The core values of the journal are scientific quality, objectivity, transparency, and respect for all participants in the editorial process.


Editorial Decisions

  • The Editor-in-Chief makes publication decisions based on reviewer reports and the journal’s policy.
  • Manuscripts containing plagiarism, defamation, or copyright infringement are rejected.
  • Unpublished material must not be used in the editors’ or reviewers’ own research.
  • Assessment is carried out regardless of the authors’ background, gender, religion, or political views.

Confidentiality

All manuscripts are treated as confidential documents, accessible only to authors, reviewers, academic advisers, and the publisher.


Conflict of Interest

Editors, reviewers, and advisers must withdraw from handling manuscripts where personal or professional conflict of interest exist. All complaints concerning conflict are addressed by the editorial office with appropriate action.


Ethical Aspects of Research


Responsibilities of the Editorial Board

  • Uphold integrity and respect towards authors.
  • Reject manuscripts lacking scientific value or violating journal policy.
  • Appoint competent and independent reviewers.
  • Ensure the use of double-blind peer review.

Responsibilities of Reviewers

  • Provide impartial assessments within the agreed deadlines.
  • Treat all manuscripts as confidential.
  • Refrain from using unpublished data for personal research.
  • Report any conflicts of interest or suspected misconduct.

Responsibilities of Authors

  • Guarantee originality and accuracy of findings.
  • Cite all sources correctly.
  • Avoid plagiarism, self-plagiarism, and redundant publication.
  • Confirm exclusivity of the manuscript and be willing to correct errors if discovered.

Authorship

All authors must approve the content, confirm their contribution, validate the final version, and accept responsibility for its integrity. Contributors not meeting authorship criteria should be acknowledged in the Acknowledgements section.


Data Policy

Underlying research data may be made available upon official request via the editorial office, subject to the authors’ consent. Requests may be declined if confidentiality or ethical restrictions apply.


Post-Publication Discussion

The journal encourages post-publication dialogue through PubPeer. All articles are assigned DOIs to ensure accessibility and transparency. Legitimate concerns raised are investigated according to the journal’s ethics and retraction policy.


Funding and Advertising

  • The journal does not accept advertising, thereby maintaining independence and academic integrity.
  • Authors must disclose all sources of funding. If no funding is received, this must be stated as: “This research received no external funding”.

Authorship (Criteria)

An individual may be considered an author of a scholarly work only if they simultaneously meet all of the following criteria.

Substantial contribution to the research:

  • participation in the conception or design of the study;
  • or involvement in the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data.

Participation in drafting or critically revising the manuscript:

  • drafting key sections of the manuscript;
  • or critically revising the text with an intellectual contribution that significantly affects its content.

Approval of the final version of the manuscript:

  • each author must review and approve the final version prior to submission.

Accountability for the scientific accuracy and integrity of the work:

  • the author must be able to take responsibility for any part of the study, ensure the verifiability of the data, and cooperate in the investigation and resolution of any questions or concerns.
